What is Ham Radio Amateur Radio?

Some people will use it to speak to other Radio Hams all over the world, others will use it purely to speak with friends who live relatively local to them. others use it to Communicate Digitally using Packet Radio. Still others will use it for sending Morse Code. There are all sorts of Radio Contests that users can get engaged in that are great fun to participate in. This is a wonderful hobby why not find someone who holds a license and get them to demonstrate what it is all about?
Radio Amateur or Ham Radio?
Amateur Radio Operators affectionately called Hams or Ham Radio Operators are known throughout the world. Radio Amateur is the real term to use when discussing this subject.
Do not be mislead with the word amateur as this does not refer to the lack of any skill or knowledge on the subject but rather that Ham Radio is not to be used for any commercial or revenue generation purposes.
This is truly a Hobby in the sense that you cannot use it to earn a living or make money from but it is something that makes a huge difference to people all over the world especially when put to use in a disaster situation.
Is Amateur Radio Licensed?
yes you do indeed have to have a license to use Amateur Radio, the rules governing this varies in different countries. Basically the Licenses are in stages as they get harder and harder as you gain a higher License. the higher the License achieved then the more privileges you can have and the more enjoyable the hobby will be.
